I like to observe the slightly imperfect manner in which we humans try to control the world around us. I prefer to notice torn edges, uneven pathways or discarded trash that lie haphazardly next to a bin. It is evidence that while we may make choices, nature takes the lead role.
While I use a variety of mediums, my pieces are alway organic in nature and are the result of moments of chance. I welcome interference by nature itself or by the properties of the materials that I am using whether wax or water. I prefer to incorporate texture into my imagery, either visual or literal.
Using frequent travel as a reference point, I look at the similarities and differences across locations and communities.
